Sisyphus

Push the boulder that is your software up the hill. Every terrace ships a release and every release adds a module, so the boulder grows; every module rots (drifting dependencies, flaky tests, deprecated APIs, advisories that spread), and rot makes it heavy. Modules use one another, so one outage spreads; patch, retire or refactor to keep up, and rest when he tires. At the summit the next major version ships, the platform reaches its end of life, and it all rolls back down, where a cairn records the climb. Built on the Strata engine.

How to play

Click the game to take the mouse, then move the mouse to look and W A S D to walk; walk into the boulder from below to push it. Hold E on a module to patch it, R to retire it and F to refactor it into the module it uses; Q sits to rest and look at the view, V switches between his eyes and a view from behind him, and M turns the sound on or off. On a phone or tablet, drag on the left half to walk and on the right half to look, and hold Patch, Retire or Refactor. The game saves in this browser. Needs WebGL 2.
